There has been a lot of carpets here for a while. It all started when I got a break on the living room carpet, which was dirty and also difficult to vacuum. I dragged out the misery in the garden and went off on it with both BEATER and garden hose. But not felt it much cleaner for it. And especially since it took a long time to dry after the game I gave it with the water hose - it lay out in the sun or inside the hall floor and smelled a bit musty easy and everyone had to step over it. So then I decided that it was over with miserable synthetic carpets, and ordered me a wool carpet to have in the living room instead. It is natural material, so the dust will not be so disgusting, and it is short haired so it becomes easier to vacuum. scene de menage And I have been coughing up some loot for a nice rug so I become more inclined to take care of it, so is it, unfortunately.
It is this rug, or similar, which I can not bear to see any more. Like so many of IKEA's products are selling scene de menage it at that - I - think: well, well, this is not the perfect carpet, scene de menage but it's good enough for so long, until I can find / afford that rug I really want. So blocking it at throwaway mentality, and because it is fully aware that the carpet just lies there until further notice, so you no relation to it and are not very careful to take care of it.
The whole story with synthetic carpet made me understood to wonder if we have any other Scary rugs anywhere. And my conclusion was that we have a right little mats at all. In the children's room, we have the IKEA rugs, but it's rag rugs and we are quite sure to sniff them when we clean the room and wash them in the machine and then. But in the bathroom, I realized that we have a creepy synthetic carpet to! It is certainly not very dirty, because washing bath mats periodically. But then it's not good either!
The fact is that when we wash plastic in the washing machine (eg fleece) we will then flush out the tiny plastic particles that are not captured in the wastewater treatment plants but continue right into the ocean where they accumulate (see example here). Children's Fleeces, I do not particularly bad conscience because I wash them about once every six months, but a bathmat that you wash every time you clean the bathroom .... well, it does not feel OK! A fleece sweater can as reported cast 1900 plastic fragments per wash - now is not the carpet of fleece without polypropylene, which could potentially be better. Or worse. A plastic material of the same type it is. Bathroom carpet is thus also on the way out and will be replaced by a hemvirkad rag rug! A moderately pet project to devote their TV evenings scene de menage ate, and because the material is strips of our worn-out scene de menage clothes, I will be able to wash it as many times as you want without feeling guilty. And a little warmer, moreover: synthetic carpet can withstand only 40 degrees, and one can wonder if it really is killing bathroom bacteria.
While I had my head full of rugs, I happened to buy a rug for the kitchen at the flea market the other week. It is really handsome, I think, is completely o-synthetic as far as I can judge, and makes the kitchen look more inbott out. Additionally, the protection of our little badly affected kitchen scene de menage floor a little. We have planned to sand and paint it, but there will be no earlier than the fall. And the carpet scene de menage was my for the nice price of 40 SEK. Which means that with a free (homemade) bathmat, a swanky but inexpensive and used cooking mat and an expensive and fine wool carpet to the living room, I go almost constantly out financially than if I had bought half the expensive synthetic carpets to all three rooms instead. But not compared to IKEA's cheapest. But them I will never buy!
Incidentally, one of my New Year's resolutions for 2013 to be more conscious of my consumption of furniture and consumer goods and not just in terms of food and clothing. In math question scene de menage I think iom this give myself approved.
We have also not very many rugs at home :) bathmat we usually have none and when there is a there is a small rag rug that I, like them, you say, can wash in higher temperature. Son automotive carpet from Ikea is well that which is made of synthetic material here at home .. Reply Delete
Samvetssnurr You've samvetssnurr. I'm sure I'm not alone in having it. I feel that the life we live is not sustainable, morally or really honestly. Therefore, I would do my best to be echo and echo and, sometimes, only partially PK. I'm documenting it here in the blog, and you can leave a comment scene de menage and tell us if you have a similar ambition. View my complete profile
