Yummy house! I’ve rarely seen a house built in the ’30s that isn’t hard to resist. It was a decade of good design, varying styles but not radical, excellent materials, intelligent use of space, and warmth — for those who could afford to build during the Depression, workmanship & materials were relatively inexpensive. This house is a good example of that; it invites you in & makes you want to stay.
I lived in a house in St. Cloud, MN, built in 1930. It was solidly constructed and had nice detail although the upstairs hall was quite narrow. The house was stucco, but below that was wide board tongue and groove siding, and the roof sheathing was as well. When we re-roofed, we found the workman’s signature and a date (August 10, 1930) written on the sheathing. Nice house overall.
